Elddis Caravan Weights (Updated for 2021)

It’s really important to know the weight of your caravan for numerous reasons. However, the information that you need is often hard to come by. That’s why I’ve written this blog post, to pull all the Elddis caravan weights into one place.

You must know the weight of your caravan for numerous reasons. The primary reason to find out the weight of your caravan is to make sure you can tow it on your license. Depending on when you gained your driving license, some caravan might be too heavy to tow legally. Furthermore, it’s crucial to find out whether your car is capable of towing the caravan you’re looking at. You can read more about figuring out which caravans you can tow in my blog post What Size Caravan Can I Tow?

I have included three important weight-related pieces of information for each caravan in this blog post: MiRO, MTPLM, and user payload. Briefly, here’s what each of these means:

  • MiRO: MiRO, or MRO, stands for Mass iRunning Order. The MiRO of your caravan is the weight of the caravan as it leaves the factory in its standard form. This number counts everything included as standard, such as all the appliances that the caravan comes equipped with.
  • MTPLM: MTPLM stands for Maximum Technically Permissable Laden Mass. The MTPLM is the maximum weight of your caravan including the user payload.
  • User payload: The user payload is the difference between the Mass in Running Order and the Maximum Technically Permissable Laden Mass of your caravan. It’s the maximum weight that can be added to your caravan, so it’s important to keep an eye on this one and ensure you don’t overload your caravan. Please note also that any extras you have added to your caravan will eat into the user payload and are not added into the MiRO figure.

To make your life easier, this blog post compiles the MiROs, MTPLMs, and user payload for all of the following Elddis caravans (updated for 2021). Select your caravan from the list below to be taken to the weights for your tourer:

The Elddis Avante 454 is a bright, spacious 2 berth caravan. The caravan’s modern, bright interior makes this feel like a spacious caravan despite it’s relatively small body.

The L-shaped lounge is more than spacious enough for two people to sit in comfort. At the rear of the caravan, you have a super comfortable large double bed. This bed is retractable, enabling you to create a daybed. Otherwise, you have a permanently made up bed so there’s no messing around when it comes to bedtime!

The Elddis Avante 550 is a gorgeous, lightweight 4 berth caravan. Similar to the rest of the 2021 Elddis Avante range, the interior is somewhat plain, with shades of cream used throughout. However, the interior feels remarkably spacious because of how well-lit it is.

At the rear of this caravan, you have a retractable island bed. This is excellent, because you can have a permanently made up bed or you can create a daybed for more room throughout the day. You also have an en suite, with separate toilet and shower cubicles that can be segregated from the rest of the caravan using a door.

The retractable island bed is an excellent idea, as it gives you more floor space should you need it throughout the day. The front lounge is relatively spacious, with more than enough seating room for the 4 people that this caravan is designed for. There’s a lot to say about the 6 berth Elddis Avante 840. It’s versatile, sizeable, and beautiful. One of the largest caravans in the Avante range, you can be assured that this caravan is more than large enough for the enitre family. The layout is exceptionally flexible, with the front of the caravan featuring two large sofas that can be used as sizeable singles or a gargantuan double. The wraparound side dinette provides plenty of room for entertaining and eating, but also converts into a good-sized double. At the rear of the caravan, there’s the large French double with a capacious corner washroom.

This is an excellent family caravan offering great flexibility. This caravan’s perfect for travelling with friends or children, so it can suit a variety of purposes.

The Elddis Avante 860 is a gargantuan 4 berth caravan. At 8 foot wide with an MTPLM of 1685kg, this is one of the heaviest and most spacious 4 berth caravans that you can purchase. The 860 is the epitome of luxury where 4 berth caravans are concerned.

At the front of the 860, you have a capacious, well-lit lounge. The sofas are massive when you consider this caravan is designed for just 4 people. It also means this caravan is very flexible, as you can use the lounge as two singles or a large double. At the rear of the caravan, you have a sizeable, comfortable island bed and an en-suite of sorts.

The Elddis Avante 868 is a rather unique 6 berth caravan. The 868 is evidently targeted at families, with a large French double at the rear opposite two fixed bunks. The primary sleeping area at the rear also has en-suite facilities and a door to separate it from the rest of the caravan.

I like this layout, but it is pretty unique and perhaps quite niche. It’s certainly ideal for families however.
