I’m going to review each of these individually and list their pros and cons. By the end of this blog post, you’ll have a good idea of which caravan you’re wanting!

Buccaneer Aruba (2021)

The Buccaneer Aruba (2021), my favourite 6 berth caravan with a fixed double bed. This is a luxurious caravan with one of the finest interiors you’ll see. Image: elddis.co.uk

The Buccaneer Aruba is a 6 berth caravan with a fixed double bed at the rear. This is my favourite 6 berth with a fixed double; it’s just so luxurious! This caravan is fantastic in so many ways: it’s spacious, the interior is eye-catching, and it has a brilliant kitchen.

Pros
  • Plenty of space throughout the entire caravan
  • Flexible sleeping arrangements
  • Kitchen with all the appliances you could need
  • A lot of storage space
Cons
  • High-end caravan with a price tag to match
  • A very heavy caravan
  • Plenty of space throughout the entire caravan: This is a super spacious caravan throughout, with a large lounge area at the front of the caravan, a capacious dinette opposite the kitchen, and a sizeable washroom at the rear of the ‘van. The Aruba is 2.44 meters wide (8 foot) means that the lounge is comfortable enough to seat 6 if not more.
  • Flexible sleeping arrangements: The beds in the Buccaneer Aruba offer a great deal of flexibility that you wouldn’t get in most caravans, particularly those with a fixed bed. For example, the dinette opposite the kitchen can become a large double bed, whereas the rear lounge can be two large singles or a massive double. If you have occasional guests or you’re travelling as a family, this flexibility is excellent.
  • Kitchen with all appliances that you could need: The Aruba’s kitchen has everything you could possibly need or want – and probably more! The entire kitchen, including all appliances, is on the nearside of the caravan. This isn’t a big, life-changing feature but makes life easier. As well as an oven, grill, four-burner hob, and almost full-size fridge, the kitchen has copious amounts of storage and a microwave as standard. As well as three drawers under the sink, you’ll find four lockers overhead. It goes without saying that the kitchen’s finish is unparalleled, too!
  • A lot of storage space: There’s plenty of storage in the Buccaneer Aruba that makes it an ideal caravan for a family. There are wardrobes, overhead lockers, and seat boxes throughout that give you plenty of space for your belongings. Furthermore, there’s a massive storage space underneath the fixed French bed at the rear.

This is one of the finest caravans available, but there are some notable drawbacks.

  • Price tag: This one goes without saying, but the Aruba is a high-end caravan with a price tag to match. The Aruba is usually priced at around £36,000; not everyone has that kind of money lying around to spend on a caravan.
  • A very heavy caravan: The Buccaneer Aruba is a very heavy caravan, with MTPLM of 1983kg. There are a small selection of cars with such a high towing capacity, so you might struggle to tow this caravan if you don’t already have an appropriate car. Potentially you’re going to spend thousands of pounds on a new caravan and purchase a new car as well!

Bailey Pegasus Grande Turin (2021)

The Bailey Pegasus Grande Turin is one of the finest caravans in the Bailey range. It’s certainly one of the best caravans with a fixed bed. In this model, the fixed double bed is at the rear in a layout almost identical to the aforementioned Buccaneer Aruba. Let’s have a look at the pros and cons of this model.

Pros
  • Spacious throughout
  • Flexible sleeping arrangements
  • Stylish interior
Cons
    • Spacious throughout: This is another large caravan, at 8 foot wide. The width and length (20 foot 9 inches) of this Pegasus Grande Turin mean there’s plenty of space for your family to enjoy and relax. At the front of the caravan, there is a large seating area that will comfortably seat at least six people. Further along, there is a dinette opposite the kitchen that will seat 4 with ease.
    • Flexible sleeping arrangements: The Bailey Pegasus Grande Turin offers a great deal of flexibility where sleeping arrangements are concerned. While you have the fixed double bed at the rear, you have a side dinette that coverts into a large double and the front lounge that can be two sizeable singles or one capacious double. The possibilities are ideal for parents with children, travelling with older family members, or having your friends as guests.
    • Stylish interior: The interior of the Bailey Pegasus Grande Turin is eye-catching and extremely stylish, with a gorgeous colour palette used throughout. The interior is very modern and comparable to caravans much more expensive than this one.

    Compass Casita 840 (2021)

The bright, cheerful interior of the Compass Casita 840. You can see the large seating area as well as the sizeable U-shape dinette. Image: elddis.co.uk

The Compass Casita 840 is a wonderful 6 berth caravan that’s practical, stylish, and spacious. This is another wide caravan (8 foot) and perfect for families. Here are the pros and cons of this particular caravan.

    Pros
    • Large seating area
    • Flexibility with sleeping arrangements
    • Maximum possible length/width to ensure spaciousness
    Cons
      • Large lounge area at the front: The Compass Casita 840 has a massive seating area at the front perfect for relaxing and entertaining guests. There’s more than enough space for the entire family, particularly when you take into the account the U-shape dinette opposite the kitchen. The picture above doesn’t really do justice to the lounge area in the Casita 840; it’s larger and more capacious than the picture suggests.
      • Flexibility with sleeping arrangements: This is another caravan that offers you a lot of flexibility as far as sleeping arrangements are concerned. At the front of the caravan, you have a sizeable lounge area that can convert into a large double bed. Alternatively, you can use the two lengthy sofas as long single beds. Of course, the side dinette becomes a large double bed and you have the massive French bed at the rear too.
      • Maximum possible length/width to ensure spaciousness: This is long and wide caravan, with an internal length of 6.39m and a width of 2.45m. The Casita 840 is actually one of the largest caravans that money can buy, meaning it’s also one of the most capacious. Thanks to the multitude of windows, this well-lit space seems massive.

      Elddis Avante 868 (2021)

The Elddis Avante 868 is a rather unique 6 berth caravan with a layout excellent for families. Image: Elddis.co.uk

The Elddis Avante 868 is a gorgeous caravan perfect for families. It has a rather unique layout that you don’t see too regularly, but the layout makes it the perfect tourer for some.

Here are the pros and cons of the Elddis Avante 868.

      Pros
      • The unique layout is ideal for families
      • Plenty of storage
      • Capacious throughout
      Cons
      • Small shower cubicle
      • A family may outgrow the layout
      • The unique layout is ideal for families: The unique layout of the Elddis Avante 868 makes it ideal for families. In this caravan, there is a large fixed double at the rear situated opposite fixed bunk beds. It’s a layout you don’t come across all too often, but it’s an excellent layout for families that have young children.
      • Plenty of storage: Families going on holiday require a lot of storage; especially when you’ve got young children who want to bring bikes, toys, and the like. In the Avante 868, there are two wardrobes, underseat storage at the front, storage underneath the bed (which you can access externally), and a multiple of overhead lockers.
      • Capacious throughout: This is another super spacious tourer, measuring 6.39m long (internal length) and 2.45m wide. Dimensions-wise, this means that it is tied with the caravans on this list as the largest caravan you can purchase. Consequently, it feels spacious throughout. There’s more than enough room for a family.

Of course, not everything about this caravan is perfect. The shower cubicle is a little on the small side, for example. However, that’s a minor negative considering how fantastic this caravan is otherwise.

Another notable drawback is that your family might outgrow this caravan in a few years. This caravan is very much aimed at families with children. As your children become teenagers and beyond, the bunks might not be ideal anymore.

Anyway, if this layout works for your family then it is one of the best that you can purchase.

Hopefully this blog post has helped you to find the perfect 6 berth caravan with a fixed bed.
