I don’t know about you, but I still like to get a decent wash even when I’m camping and travelling. Before purchasing my folding camper, I thought it prudent to find out whether I could get one that had a shower in it. I did plenty of research to find a folding camper with a shower, and here’s what I found out.
Do folding campers come with showers? No, folding campers do not come with showers. If you absolutely must have your own shower, you’ll need a portable shower or something other than a folding camper.
Unfortunately, my research came up short. I found out that folding campers don’t come with showers. However, throughout my time researching, I discovered that people have adapted their folding campers to have showers, and many folding camper owners use an external portable shower when travelling.

Is There A Portable Shower?
So folding campers don’t have showers. If you really want to have your own private shower on campsites, this is a bummer if you have your heart set on travelling with a folding camper. Fortunately, there are portable camping showers available – perfect for storing in your folding camper and using on campsites!
As long as you’re stopping on a campsite that has a water source, you can take a portable shower and use it. It might not be as good as your shower at home, but it’s way better than sharing the communal showers with strangers!

For most folding camper owners, I would recommend a portable camping shower that plugs into your car’s cigarette lighter. If you’re travelling with a folding camper, you evidently have a vehicle available that has a cigarette lighter. You always will do now and in future endeavours. That’s why it’s the best choice for people travelling with their folding camper!
How Much Is A Portable Shower?
The price of portable showers differs greatly. You can get portable showers for as little as £10, but if you’re willing to spend a little more, you can have a high-quality portable shower for around £30 – £40.
I would recommend going for one of the more expensive portable showers. Although it’s cliché, you get what you pay for. The cheaper portable camping showers are often nothing more than a glorified carrier bags. On the other hand, some of the more expensive portable showers are really high-quality and offer the ease and comfort that you’d have showered at home.
For a good portable shower, you should anticipate spending around the £25 – £40 mark.
Can I Shower With Just Water?
Storage in a folding camper is limited as it is without bringing a variety of soaps and shower gels. Fortunately, you can comfortably and healthily shower with just water.
Soap and shower gels don’t affect how clean you are. You can fully clean yourself and rinse away dirt with water alone – there’s no need to bring your soaps and shower gels with you when camping in your folding camper!
There’s plenty of research into how common soaps can impact your skin. In fact, research documents how conventional soaps can change the pH of your skin, stripping away vital oils and healthy bacteria.
Succinctly, yes, you can shower with just water. If research is to be believed, it might even be better for you!
Folding Camper Showers: The Best Portable Camping Showers Available
As part of my research for this article, I felt it necessary to test out some of the portable camping showers available. After all, I travel in my folding camper a lot and wanted a decent shower to use throughout my own travels!
