Do Folding Campers Have Toilets?

When my family and I were getting our first folding camper, the question of whether folding campers have toilets came up time and time again. We knew we didn’t want to take our children to the site toilets at 3 am in the cold and the rain, so I did some research into whether folding campers have toilets.

Do folding campers have toilets? Yes, certain models of folding camper have toilets. A few examples are the Pennine Pathfinder and Conway Crusader.

While researching, I found out that not all folding campers come equipped with toilets. Fortunately, there are plenty of alternative solutions out there so you don’t have a long trek to the site toilet in the early hours.

Which Folding Campers Have Toilets?

If you want a folding camper with a toilet, there are a select few that you can choose from. Here’s a list of popular folding campers that have toilets:

  • Pennine Pathfinder
  • Conway Crusader
  • Trigano 575tc
  • Trigano Ranger TC
  • Pennine Fiesta

The image I’ve included gives you a rough idea of what the cassette toilets look like in folding campers. As you can see, it isn’t very spacious. However, it means you can go to the toilet in the privacy and comfort of your own folding camper. Additionally, these folding camper models include a basin, as shown in the picture above.

Folding campers with toilets are typically the larger models. Most of the above are 4 to 6-berth folding campers, meaning they’re perfect for family weekends away. You’ll find that the more expensive folding campers all feature toilets, whereas some of the cheaper models don’t.

If you have your eye on a folding camper that doesn’t have a toilet, it isn’t the end of the world. Many portable toilets are just as comfy – if not comfier – than the cassette toilets that feature in many folding campers.

Portable Toilets: Which Is The Best?

If the folding camper you’re looking at doesn’t have a toilet, you’ll want to invest in a portable toilet. With a portable toilet, you can stop anywhere without worrying about stopping near toilet facilities. You’ll also be able to use the toilet within the confines of your folding camper, which I find is more appealing than using the communal toilet.

There are literally hundreds of portable toilets you can choose from. I decided to try some out so I could compile a list of the best portable toilets available.

Blue Diamond When Nature Calls Portable Toilet

The Blue Diamond When Nature Calls Portable Toilet is one of my favourite portable toilets. It is the most expensive portable toilet I have included at £89.99. However, the quality of this particular portable toilet means it can be used repeatedly for years.

This portable toilet has great reviews, and it’s immediately obvious why when you use it. It is known for being comfortable and feels sturdy. The Blue Diamond corporates a convenient manual flushing feature to make it more environmentally friendly. It utilises both the integrated 14L Waste Tank and 15L Fresh Water Tank to do so.

It takes one second to erect, so you can pop it up as and when you need it, then quickly store it away again. Other great features of the Blue Diamond portable toilet include:

  • Robust carrying handle and compact design.
  • Hygienic smooth, easy-to-care surface.
  • Plastic clips to connect top and base sections.

If you want to take a closer look at the Blue Diamond When Nature Calls Portable Toilet, you can find it here at Winfields Outdoors. Take a look at the reviews too – it’s not just me that thinks this is a brilliant portable toilet.

Thetford Porta Potti 365

The Thetford Porta Potti is a great portable toilet. It’s more advanced than the Bivvy Loo, but it doesn’t cost much more. At the time of writing, the Thetford Porta Potti costs £74.99.

The Thetford Porta Potti is both comfortable and practical. You don’t need to connect the Porta Potti to a drainage or water system, making it ideal for circumstances when neither is available to you. As you might guess, the Porta Potti is extremely portable. It’s lightweight and nicely sized, so you can store it without too much bother.

This handy video shows how to use the Thetford Porta Potti.

The Porta Potti is easy to empty. With the fluids that come with the Porta Potti, emptying it isn’t a nasty experience the way it is with some other portable toilets.

If you’d like to take a closer look at the Porta Potti, you can view it here on Camping World. As with the previous portable toilet, check out the reviews to see what others are saying.

Kampa King Khazi Portable Toilet

The Kampa King Khazi Portable Toilet is another brilliant option. It’s stylish – as far as toilets go! – and is a great size for keeping in your folding camper. This portable toilet is available for as little as £37.99 at the time of writing. Although it’s the cheapest of the three toilets I’ve tried so far, it’s still high-quality and reliable.

The Kampa King Khazi Portable Toilet is the most stylish of the three portable toilets I’ve tried so far, in my opinion. The appearance is pleasant, particularly when you compare it to some of the other portable toilets available. It’s also really easy to empty because it has a removable inner with a secure lid for disposal.

This toilet also has a toilet roll holder! Most portable toilets don’t, so it’s a nice feature that you’re sure to appreciate. Most importantly, this lightweight and portable toilet is easy to clean. It’s as easy to disassemble as it is to assemble, so it’s a good choice for camping and stopping in a folding camper.

If you’d like some more information on the lightweight portable toilet by Kampa, take a look at the Camping World listing for the product here.

Do I Need A Portable Toilet?

If your folding camper doesn’t have a toilet, a portable toilet can come in really handy. Even though most campsites have toilet facilities available, nobody enjoys using them. With a portable toilet, you can go to the toilet in the comfort of your own folding camper.

Folding camper toilets are affordable and incredibly portable, so you’re not going to break the bank, and you aren’t going to take up too much room in your folding camper.

My folding camper doesn’t come fitted with a toilet. We normally choose to stop at campsites that have toilets, but we use a portable toilet in our folding camper for added comfort. Although I’m usually left with the task of emptying and cleaning the toilet, it isn’t too bad with something such as the Porta Potti.
