Pennine Folding Camper Dimensions

While purchasing my folding camper, I found out how important it is to know the dimensions of your unit. You need to know them when booking a campsite. You also need to know them if you’re going to pay to have your camper stored over winter. Because of this, I decided to create this blog post containing the dimensions of every popular Pennine folding camper.

Pennine Aztec Dimensions

Height119cmN/A
Width188cm395cm
Length315cm441cm

The Pennine Aztec is a 4-berth folding camper. When stored, the Aztec is 3.15m long, 1.88m wide and 1.19m tall. When erected, it’s 4.41m long and 3.95m wide.

As one of the smaller Pennine folding campers, the Aztec will fit in the majority of garages and on the majority of drives. In fact, the Aztec will fit in a smaller than average garage at only 315cm long and 188cm wide.

Aztec Overview

The Pennine Aztec is a 4-berth folding camper. The Aztec was first produced by Pennine in 1980, continuing 19 years until 1999. As an entry-level folding camper, it was very popular during its production. Even now, Aztecs are very popular due to the enduring appeal of a truly entry-level folding camper.

Compared to the vast majority of folding camper available today, the Aztec could be described as lacking in features. The Aztec’s have basic kitchen facilities, comfortable seating, two beds and not much else. One bed is permanently made up, while the seating area converts into a second bed. All things considered, this is probably the perfect unit for a couple purchasing their first folding camper. Aztecs in good condition are often available for as little as £500 – perfect if this is your first folding camper and you’re upgrading from a tent.

Pennine Apollo Dimensions

Pennine Apollo Dimensions

Height120cmN/A
Width184cm420cm
Length337cm337cm

The Pennine Apollo is a 4-berth folding camper. When stored, the Apollo is 3.37m long, 1.84m wide and 1.20m tall. When erected, it’s 3.37m long and 4.20m wide.

As one of the smaller folding campers Pennine has ever created, the Apollo is relatively easy to store. This makes it a popular option if you’re looking to store your folding camper at home but don’t have much room. Also, it’s fairly light (700kg) so the Apollo’s easy to tow for drivers that don’t have a great deal of experience towing a trailer.

Apollo Overview

The Apollo is a 4-berth folding camper that Pennine manufactured in the mid-90s to the early 2000s. The Pennine Apollo is relatively similar to the smallest and most basic Pennine, the Aztec. The Apollo features basic kitchen facilities, plenty of storage space and 2 beds – one a double, the other a king-size. In the kitchen, you’ll find a 2 burner hob and grill and cold water fed sink. 12V and 240V electrical systems are standard in Apollo folding campers, which the Aztec didn’t have.

The Apollo has very similar features to the Aztec. The advantage of choosing an Apollo over an Aztec is that you’ll have much more room without having to go for one of the larger folding campers. Again, this is often described as an entry-level folding camper and is perfect for couples looking to purchase their first unit together. Although the Apollo is 4-berth, it’s more suitable for a pair or a group of 3.

Pennine Fiesta Dimensions

Height130cmN/A
Width184cm420cm
Length400cm400cm

The Pennine Fiesta is a 4-berth folding camper. When folded away, it is 4m long, 1.84m wide and 1.39m tall. When erected, the Fiesta is 4m long and 4.2m wide. It’s notable that these statistics are for the current Fiesta, which has undergone several redesigns over the years. If you have an older Fiesta, please refer to the Pennine brochure for your specific model.

While the Fiesta is still relatively small, it’s bigger than the Aztec and Apollo. Despite the Fiesta’s large size relative to the Aztec and Apollo, it will still fit comfortably in most garages.

Fiesta Overview

The Pennine Fiesta is a 4-berth folding camper that Pennine has manufactured since 1990. Pennine still produce the Fiesta, although it has gone through many revisions during its lifetime. The Fiesta is bigger than its similar stablemates, the Apollo and Aztec. Not only is it more spacious, it’s also more luxurious: it has a much better kitchen and arguably a more stylish interior overall.

Pennine’s Fiesta range have always been spacious despite only being 4-berth. Over the years, the Fiesta range has been (arguably) enhanced. The latest models now include a cassette toilet compartment, but this change has received mixed feedback from folding camper owners. Some prefer it having a unit with more features, whereas some argue it takes away too much space from the previously spacious kitchen. Either way, a Fiesta new or old is a great option for couples or small families.

Pennine Countryman Dimensions

The Countryman is a 4-berth folding camper. When stored, it is 4m long, 1.84m wide and 1.39m tall. When erected, it’s 4m long and 4.2m wide. Please note that these statistics only apply to the model manufactured by Pennine. For the dimensions of models produced by Conway, please see my blog post Conway Folding Camper Dimensions.

As you may have noticed, the dimensions of the Fiesta and the Conway are identical. They both serve different types of customers despite being very similar, which is why Pennine continues to make both. The Countryman name is well-established and still has many supporters.

Pennine Countryman Overview

The Countryman is a 4-berth folding camper produced by Pennine since 2003. The Countryman has a storied history, as the model was originally produced by Conway as the Conway Countryman. When Pennine took over Conway, the Countryman is one of the models that they retained and added to their line up.

The Countryman, when produced by Conway, was seen as a competitor to the Fiesta. And it’s easy to see why: the models are virtually identical. Not only are they exactly the same size dimensions-wise, but they have virtually identical interiors. The primary difference is in the kitchen area, where the Fiesta has a toilet compartment and the Countryman does not. Some people like having a convenient cassette toilet, whereas some prefer having a larger kitchen. When choosing between the Countryman and the Fiesta, this is the biggest deciding factor for most.

Pennine Sterling Dimensions

Pennine Sterling Dimensions

Height126cmN/A
Width207cm205cm
Length409cm510cm

The Pennine Sterling is a 6-berth folding camper. When stored, the Sterling is 4.09m long, 2.07m wide and 1.26m tall. When erected, the Sterling is 2.05m long and 5.10m wide. Again, these figures are applicable to the second generation of Sterling folding campers. If you have an older Sterling, please refer to the brochure associated with your model.

The Sterling has been produced by Pennine since the early 1990s. While production has now ended, Sterlings are still relatively popular. If you just want a basic folding camper but you need one that is 6 berth, the Sterling is a really popular option.

Sterling Folding Camper Overview

Although Pennine no longer produces the Sterling, it remains a good option for most people looking to purchase a basic 6-berth folding camper. When compared with models such as the Pullman and Pathfinder, the Sterling seems very basic. The base model of a Sterling only came with very basic equipment, although you could add equipment such as a fridge as an optional extra.

The Sterling acted as an entry-level folding camper for most. For people needing more than a 4-berth folding camper without spending too much, the Sterling tends to fit the bill. If you’re upgrading from a tent or trailer tent, the Sterling has all the basic amenities that you need. They’re available for a great price second hand too, so it’s the perfect entry point into the world of folding campers.

Pennine Sovereign Dimensions

Pennine Sovereign Dimensions

Stored/TowingErected
Height126cmN/A
Width207cm205cm
Length427cm545cm

The Sovereign was a 6-berth folding camper manufactured by Pennine in the early 2000s. When stored, the Sovereign is 4.27m in length, 2.07m wide and 1.26m tall. When erected, it’s 2.05m long and 5.45m wide.

Production of the Sovereign didn’t last very long. In fact, Sovereign folding campers were only made for approximately 2 years. Because there are so few Sovereign folding campers, it’s hard to say how popular they are.

Sovereign Overview

The Sovereign was manufactured to bridge the gap between the high-end folding campers, such as the Pathfinder, and the lower-end models, such as the Sterling. It had much of the top-tier equipment you’d find in a Pathfinder but in a smaller body more akin to the Sterling and Pullman. It’s hard to say why production on the Sovereign ended without inside knowledge because it seemed to be the ideal compromise for a lot of people looking to purchase a folding camper.

Because there are so few Sovereigns out there in the world, they don’t often pop up on the second-hand market. However, it’s worth keeping an eye out for a Sovereign if you want the top-tier equipment you’d find in a Pathfinder without the extra size. It’s a nice model and would suit the needs of most at a lower price point than purchasing a Pathfinder.

Pennine Pullman Dimensions

Pennine Pullman Dimensions

Height139cmN/A
Width212cm210cm
Length417cm535cm

The Pennine Pullman is a 6-berth folding camper that Pennine manufactured until around 2009. When stored, the most recent Pullman is 4.17m long, 2.12m wide and 1.39m tall. When erected, it’s 5.35m long and 2.10m wide. As with the Fiesta and several other Pennine models, the Pullman underwent many transformations during its production run. These statistics apply to the most recent generation of Pullmans. If you have one of the older models, it’s best to check your model’s brochure to confirm precise dimensions.

The Pullman was one of the longest running models produced by Pennine. It was very similar to the Sterling, with slightly better equipment and a little bit larger. Obviously, this meant a slightly larger price tag too!

Pullman Overview

Although the Pullman was a standalone model for many years, seemed to bridge the gap between the high-end and low-end models in the same way that the Sovereign attempted. If you had a Sterling, upgrading to a Pullman made sense as it was slightly better equipped and had slightly more room. One big advantage of a Pullman is that it’s relatively light when compared with some of the larger Pennine models, such as the Pathfinder. It’s also smaller, making it easier to store and tow.

If you’re looking to purchase your first folding camper, or you’re wanting to upgrade from a low-spec model, the Pullman is perfect. It’s well-equipped and a good size, slightly larger than the Sterling. It isn’t as big or as well-equipped as the Pathfinder, but that means that it’s available for slightly cheaper. All in all, it’s a good place to start if you’re investing in a folding camper for the first time. You can pick up a Pullman for as little as £500 – £1,000 since so many were produced.

Pennine Pathfinder Dimensions

Pennine Pathfinder Dimensions

Stored/TowingErected
Height139cmN/A
Width212cm210cm
Length478cm600cm

The Pennine Pathfinder is a large, well-equipped 6-berth folding camper. The Pathfinder, when stored, is 4.78m long, 2.12m wide and 1.39m tall. When erected, the Pathfinder is 6m long and 2.10m wide. These dimensions apply to the latest generation of Pathfinders, so with an older Pathfinder the dimensions are slightly different. Please check the brochure for your model to ensure you have the precise dimensions for your model.

The Pathfinder is undoubtedly the flagship Pennine model. It remains the flagship Pennine model and is perhaps the most well-known folding camper ever.

Pathfinder Overview

The Pathfinder has been the flagship Pennine model since its introduction in the late 1990s. If you want a folding camper with all the top features, including a relatively spacious toilet cubicle, the Pathfinder is the model to go for. Not only does it have all of the best features that you’ll find in a Pennine folding camper, it also is the largest. So if you want a 6-berth folding camper with plenty of room again, the Pathfinder is the best option.

Despite the Pathfinder being the most expensive Pennine model by a significant amount, you can pick up a second-hand Pathfinder relatively cheaply. While the Pathfinder has undergone several cosmetic changes throughout the decades, there has been very little change in terms of actual equipment and features. From 2010 onwards, Pathfinders have had the Isabella acrylic canvases. There are advantages and disadvantages to acrylic canvases, but one of the main advantages is that acrylic canvas is rot-proof. As you undoubtedly know, rot is a big problem with cotton canvases. You can avoid this altogether by going for a model with an acrylic canvas.
