The Best Caravans With Triple Fixed Bunks

Recently I’ve been caravan hunting and it’s been a frustrating experience. Clicking from website to website, trying to find a caravan with triple fixed bunks, a nice interior, and a good layout. Finding the right tourer can be such a pain, so I decided to make it easy by writing a blog post containing all the information you need.

Here are the best caravans with triple fixed bunks:

  • Sprite Musketeer EB (2010) – £8,000 approx.
  • Bailey Orion 450 (2011) – £9,500 approx.
  • Lunar Quasar 546 (2012) – £10,000 approx.
  • Elddis Crusader Tempest (2010) – £13,000 approx.
  • Adria Altea 622 KD Avon (2020) – £19,500 approx.

These caravans are all great for different reasons, beyond the fact they have fixed triple bunks. I’ll explain each in more detail to give you a good idea of what makes these caravans so good.

Sprite Musketeer EB (2010)

The Sprite Musketeer EB is a stylish, roomy 5 berth caravan with a triple bunk at the rear of the unit. The Sprite Musketeer EB is one of the best caravans with triple bunks in my opinion for several reasons:

  • Lightweight: The Musketeer EB weighs just 1052kg ex works and has an MTPLM of 1291kg. This makes it one of the lightest caravans around. The vast majority of family cars will comfortably tow a caravan of this size.
  • Easy to tow: This caravan is one of the lightest 5 berths out there, which means it is also relatively easy to tow. One of the things people fear most about caravans is how difficult they are to tow. Fortunately, this is a caravan that most will tow with ease.
  • Capacious lounge: For a small caravan, the Musketeer’s lounge is surprisingly large. It is more than big enough to comfortably seat 5 people.
  • Plenty of storage space: There is plenty of storage space in this caravan. There are cupboards under the kitchen worktop, as well as overhead lockers throughout the caravan.

As you can tell, this is a surprisingly good caravan. Especially when you consider the fact that you can purchase one for as little as £8,000 currently.

I think the only thing that holds this caravan back is the small bathroom. But in a caravan of this size, a small bathroom is to be expected. When you consider the other benefits of this tourer, the only drawback being a small bathroom doesn’t seem so bad.

Bailey Orion 450 (2011)

The Bailey Orion 450 is a stunning 5 berth caravan with triple fixed bunks. As far as I’m concerned, this is one of the nicest caravans with triple bunks for several reasons:

  • Stunning interior: Despite being an affordable, entry-level caravan, the Orion 450 has a gorgeous interior fit for a caravan costing an awful lot more. I’d say this is the best-looking caravan with triple fixed bunks. If you’re bothered about how your caravan looks, this is one of the biggest benefits of the Orion 450.
  • Two sizeable lounge areas: The Orion 450 feels much larger than it actually is. This is helped by the fact that it contains two large lounge areas: one at the front of the caravan and on at the rear, opposite the triple bunks. The advantages of two lounge areas, in my opinion, is obvious: the adults and children have separate lounges to relax in.
  • Capacious kitchen: Relative to the size of the caravan, the Orion 450 has a spacious kitchen with plenty of worktop space. The kitchen also contains a microwave, oven-grill combination, 3-burner hob, fridge, and sink. Furthermore, overhead lockers are plentiful in this model; always important for family holidays.

This could be the best caravan with triple bunks for you. Although it depends on what’s really important to you, because there is one big drawback with this model: the bathroom. The bathroom contains everything that you need, such as the toilet and the shower. However, the washroom compartment is very small and certainly not comfortable. If you must have a spacious bathroom, the Orion 450 isn’t the model for you.

Lunar Quasar 546 (2012)

The Lunar Quasar 546 is a delightful 6-berth, single-axle caravan. There are many advantages to this model:

  • Two lounge areas: The Lunar Quasar 546 has two spacious dining/lounge areas: one at the front of the caravan and one at the rear, opposite the triple fixed bunks. Both lounge areas are surprisingly spacious, with the front comfortably seating 6 and the rear comfortably seating 3 or 4. Having two sizeable seating areas in the caravan makes you perceive the caravan as a whole to be larger than it actually is.
  • Large kitchen: One of my favourite Quasar 546 features is the large kitchen. The kitchen contains a full oven with grill, a 3-burner hob, a microwave, a fridge, and plenty of storage space. The worktop space feels massive, because the hob and sink both have covers. If you’re not using either, you can cover them and have substantially more space to work.
  • Separate shower: The main criticism of smaller caravans is how there’s no walk-in shower. Instead, the shower head is usually located above your head in a small, cramped washroom. The Quasar 546 actually has a walk-in shower in its washroom, making the showering experience more comfortable and more alike to getting a shower at home.

The Quasar 546 (2012) is a 6 berth caravan offering flexibility and versatility. It’s slightly larger than the caravans I’ve previously mentioned, but it’s all-up weight is only 1440kg. So not only is it lightweight, but it has some advantages such as the separate walk-in shower that might make this model the one for you.

Elddis Crusader Tempest (2010)

The Elddis Crusader Tempest is a top-tier caravan with triple fixed bunks. If you want a luxurious caravan, the Crusader Tempest undoubtedly fits the bill. This caravan is more costly than some but is a beautiful, spacious tourer with plenty of impressive features.

  • Massive kitchen: As far as caravans of this size go, the Crusader Tempest’s kitchen is massive. Without mentioning the large seating area opposite the kitchen, there are many excellent features to point out here. The kitchen has plenty of storage, in the form of overhead lockers and 3 sizeable cupboards. Furthermore, the kitchen has a large worktop area. The sink and hob both have covers, which makes the substantial area even larger. And I’ve got to mention the full-size fridge-freezer, which is certainly something you don’t find in a lot of caravans.
  • Intelligently designed triple bunk: In the Crusader Tempest, the bunks are nestled away behind the kitchen. The fixed triple bunks normally take up significant space in a caravan, but Elddis has done an excellent job here of tucking the bunks in behind the kitchen. The triple bunk area also offers some flexibility, as the bottom bunk can be a capacious storage area when not in use.
  • Two sizeable dining areas: In a lot of caravans, meal time can be a frustrating experience. The dining areas usually aren’t large enough to ensure everyone’s comfortable. This caravan is completely different, because there’s more than enough space for all! The main dining area at the front of the caravan is large enough for 6 people to dine comfortably. The smaller dining area opposite the kitchen is large enough for 4 to dine. So you have enough room for 10 to eat comfortably in a 6 berth caravan!
  • Washroom with separate walk-in shower: The washroom of the Crusader Tempest isn’t the largest. However, it still has a separate walk-in shower. This feature alone is a big plus for some people, so I thought it was worthwhile to mention it here. The washroom also contains a toilet, sink, and some cupboard space.

The Elddis Crusader Tempest is a large, premium caravan. There are cheaper caravans out there with triple fixed bunks, but this is certainly one of the best. The triple bunks are smartly integrated and the caravan feels massive thanks to intelligent design and favourable dimensions. It is twin-axle, but this just means greater stability when towing. It’s really nothing to worry about.

Adria Altea 622 DK Avon (2020)

The Adria Altea 622 DK Avon is a large 6 berth caravan. This caravan has a very modern appearance and seems very spacious, perhaps because of the large front window and sun roof. This is one of my favourite caravans for young families. Here’s why.

  • Modern, attractive appearance: The Altea 622 DK Avon has a modern, attractive appearance. If looks are important to you, this caravan is eye-catching outside and well-presented inside. The living room is a particular treat thanks to the great seating and windows.
  • Great bathroom: Out of all the caravans I’ve mentioned in this blog post, the Altea 622 DK Avon has the best bathroom of all. The bathroom is one of the best you’ll find in a single-axle 6 berth caravan of this size. There is a separate walk-in shower that’s large compared to most you’ll find. Furthermore, there is storage in the form of cupboard space, perfect for your soap, shower gels, and so on.
  • Sizeable kitchen with plenty of storage: The Altea Avon kitchen is quite impressive, with a 3-burner hob, oven, sink, full size microwave, and full size fridge. The kitchen also has absolutely loads of storage, with three large drawers under the sink and two lockers above. One of the lockers contains the microwave, which comes as standard.

I think this is definitely one of the best caravans with triple fixed bunks, particularly when you consider the low price tag for a caravan of this standard.

Conclusion

These are 5 of the best caravans with triple fixed bunks. There’s a caravan here to suit every family with different demands. Whether your priority is a large bathroom, loads of seating, or a great kitchen, there’s a caravan here for you.

Hopefully this blog post will help you to find the right caravan with 3 fixed bunks for you.
