The Best Triple Bunk Caravans Under 10K

Caravans are the perfect accompaniment to any outdoor trip, however, it can be a bit of a struggle to fit a family into an affordable caravan. When traveling with family or a small group of people, you may want to consider using a triple bunk caravan. The issue with this often lays in the price tag. After spending some time researching a number of different caravan makes and ranges, I have compiled this list of the best triple bunk caravans that can be purchased at an affordable price of under £10,000.

Here are the best triple bunk caravans I found that are all 10K or under:

All of these caravans have triple bunks and are under £10,000, however, that is not all they have to offer. There are other great features to each of these caravans that make them worth investing in. I have delved deeper in to the features of these caravans to explore what really makes these specific caravans the best triple bunk caravans under 10K.

Sprite Musketeer EB (2010)

The Sprite Musketeer EB manages to provide beds for five thanks to its triple bunks and a surprisingly large sized lounge area. What adds to this spacious feel of the caravan is its panoramic front window as well as the fact that it’s 2.23m wide. This is the perfect caravan for a family or a group that keeps the price to a minimum while ensuring that space is not compromised. Here are just some of the reasons why the Sprite Musketeer EB is such a great triple bunk caravan:

  • U-shaped lounge: One of the most impressive features of this caravan is its extraordinary living space. The U-shaped lounge uses the space well and compliments the one-piece unit window. This window encourages the light to shine through which is often a feature that is expected of more expensive, higher-spec ranges.
  • Light weight: Weighing 1052kg, with an MTPLM of 1291kg, the Sprite Musketeer EB is one of the lightest caravans within this price range. The light weight of this caravan means that the majority of family cars can easily tow it without issues.
  • Storage space: Although the Sprite Musketeer has a fairly short length, the kitchen has been designed in a very practical way that allows plenty of storage space. In addition to the small central kitchen cabinet, there is a large sized cupboard with a drawer above, making it perfect to store tall items. There is also a good amount of clothing storage for five people as there are large cavities at the foot of each bunk.

For approximately £8,000, the Sprite Musketeer EB is a fantastic caravan for a family or group. The design and layout means that up to 5 people can comfortably stay in the caravan without it caravan having to be big in size. One downfall of this model is the small sized bathroom. However when considering how well the caravan has been designed in terms of layout and storage, a smaller bathroom may not be a major drawback.

Sprite Major 6 (2010)

The Sprite Major 6 is great value for money. It is a very stylish looking caravan which offers lots of different options; you can keep the price down or you can choose to spend a little extra and get an even greater value caravan with a Diamond Pack. The Sprite Major 6 can be summarised as a well-designed caravan that appeals to families, especially since it looks a lot more costly than it actually is. Some of the best things about the Sprite Major 6 include:

  • Stylish look: The kitchen inside the Sprite Major 6 is one of the most outstanding features of this caravan, especially the granite-effect sink. In a style that is according to Swift’s signature style, this model feature a grey granite which is beautiful to look at. The kitchen surface space is often a compromise in a caravan, however in the Sprite Major 6 (which is only 5.5m long) this is not the case.
  • Comfortable lounge: The lounge in this particular model is a feature that makes buyers question if the Sprite Major 6 really is under £10K. this is because of the knee rolls that have been designed for extra comfort, as well as the high quality fabric. With plain fawn weave edging to the backrests to contrast with the main fabric, this interior introduces a more modern look.
  • Storage space: It’s no surprise that this caravan has triple bunk beds, however, one thing that may be surprising is the fact that the bottom bunk folds upwards against the wall to give you a large amount of storage space. There is also a family section with a wedge-shaped table and seating area that accommodates three comfortably.

The Sprite Major 6 is another perfect caravan for a family in terms of its design and layout. Similarly to the Sprite Musketeer EB, this model falls short when it comes to the small sized bathroom. However it is important to keep in mind the spacious lounge and kitchen area of this caravan and decide which areas of the caravan are most important for your needs.

Bailey Ranger 540/6 (2008)

The exterior of the Bailey Ranger 540/6 has quite a bulky look to it, with thick aluminium sides and alloy wheels. When looking at the build of this particular caravan, it is clear that the exterior is a very solid build, with a bonded roof and a large front exterior locker and panoramic window. Although this chunky look of the exterior may not be the best to look at, it definitely gives a strong first impression as a solid and reliable caravan. Moving on to the interior of this caravan, here are a few of the reasons why i think this is a great triple bunk caravan fro your next trip:

  • Light weight: At 1306kg MTPLM, and 1063kg MRO, the Bailey Ranger is a very lightweight caravan that an average family car can tow with ease and when arriving to your site it will prove to be well suited to family holidays.
  • Storage space: This caravan offers quite a lot of storage considering its light weight and smaller size. There is plenty of roof locker storage in the lounge area which proves to be very practical, especially when it comes to smaller sized caravans. There are also a few shelves that can provide storage for smaller items.
  • Practical kitchen: The kitchen has a full oven and four-burner hob in addition to a Dometic fridge/freezer. There is a reasonable amount of worktop space for a caravan of this size and is accompanied by a fold-down flap. The front dinette is also quite spacious and offers good seating space for up to six people. There is also a good amount of storage space in the kitchen thanks to the additional roof locker and cupboard storage. Considering all the features of this kitchen, it is quite clear why this kitchen is quite impressive for a caravan of this budget.

All-in-all, the Bailey Ranger 540/6 is a great caravan for a group of people or a family, and its spacious kitchen is perfect for accommodating up to six people, as well as offering enough storage. As mentioned previously, the exterior of this particular caravan is not the nicest to look at due to its heavy and bulky design, however, the actual weight of this caravan is the complete opposite as this is one of the most lightweight and budget friendly caravans. Like the other caravans, the Bailey Ranger also has a very small and basic bathroom, with a washroom and sink in the corner, and a swivel toilet. It may be quite basic but is also quite practical, especially due to the roof vent that provides the necessary light and ventilation.

Bailey Orion 450 (2011)

From the caravans mentioned in this blog post, the Bailey Orion 450 is one of the most visually appealing caravans, especially for its price range of under £10,000. The Bailey Orion 450’s unique and practical layout includes beds for five people, two lounge-dining areas and a notably long kitchen into just 5.22m. As well as being visually impressive for this price, there are a number of features of this caravan that I found to be impressive and worth mentioning:

  • Light weight: At 1287kg MTPLM and 1130kg MRO, this five-berth caravan has had a big influence in drawing new families into caravanning. With it’s light weight, the Bailey Orion 450 is easily towable with the majority of mid-range cars. At just £9,500, the Bailey Orion 450 is among the cheapest caravans in the UK, however, considering the modest price tag, the Bailey Orion 450’s looks a lot more pricey than it actually is.
  • L-shaped lounge: The rear seating area stretches from the door to the triple fixed bunks in an L shape. one of the most practical and space saving features of this L-shaped lounge is the table that clips onto the edge of the centre bunk, creating a dining area for two. This lets you be in control of the space within the caravan and use the space however it suits your needs.
  • Kitchen: The kitchen in the Bailey Orion 450 is designed to be weight saving. It includes a combined oven-grill unit and triangular hob, with three-burners. This shape creates surface space in the middles of the kitchen. There is also a big sized round sink which has a lightweight plastic chopping board cover and a clip-on plastic drainer.

This caravan is very impressive when it comes the visual aspect of it, as well as the practicality of it. It includes all the necessary features of a good family sized caravan. When it comes to storage space however, the Bailey Orion 450 falls short in kitchen storage space. Although there are overhead lockers provided, it seems that when it comes to the kitchen, most of the focus of the design was on providing lots of kitchen surface space rather than storage space as there are no lower kitchen cupboards. This could be a deal breaker if you want to use the kitchen to store a lot of kitchen equipment as you may have to use the locker space to store these instead.

Lunar Quasar 546 (2011)

The Lunar Quasar 546 is the most expensive caravans within this list, costing a full £10,000 unlike the others mentioned in this blog post which came in just under the 10K price range. When taking a closer look at this particular model, the price of this model becomes justified, in fact it can also be argued that the caravan is potentially worth more than its price. Here are some of the most impressive features of the Lunar Quasar 546 that make it one of my favourite triple bunk caravans under 10K:

  • Storage space: The vast amount of storage space in this caravan comes from the flexibility of the bunk arrangement. The lowest bunk can be converted into a giant storage area. Although this feature is included in a number of other triple bunk caravans, the Lunar Quasar 546 has an exterior hatch, with a large aperture, meaning if you sacrifice the window by this bottom bunk you have a very large amount of space to store things like outdoor folding chairs.
  • Kitchen layout: The design and layout of the kitchen provides a lot of surface space with approximately half a metre of it, to the right of the fixed-drainer sink. An extra few centimeters is also added to the surface space thanks to the deliberate position of the table store, which is to the right of the fridge. There are also three burners, the usual grill, oven and microwave, in addition to a narrow cupboard and a narrow cutlery drawer.
  • Bathroom: Unlike the other caravans mentioned in this blog post, the Lunar Quasar 546 has a vary impressive bathroom for its price range. The first impressive feature of this is the presence of a separate walk-in shower in the washroom. This is possible because of the model’s 5.79m body length, giving it a big advantage over some of its smaller competitors when it comes to the bathroom features and layout.

The Lunar Quasar 546 offers a versatile type of family accommodation. Firstly, because of its stylish looks that make the price tag seem a little too good to be true. The second feature making this a brilliant triple bunk caravan is the sheer amount of storage space when considering the space that comes with the bottom bunk. However, from all the features that the Lunar Quasar 546 has to offer, my favourite feature has to be the separate shower.

Conclusion

After spending some time hunting for the best triple bunk caravans under 10K, these were the ones that seemed the most impressive to me considering their price. The majority of these caravans share similar features and downfalls such as a considerable amount of storage pace, but a small and basic bathroom, with the exception of a couple of models.

Each caravan has different features to offer, that is why it important to take some time before purchasing a caravan to do some research in to potential caravans to see if it meets the requirements of your family’s needs. This blog post covered the best features of some affordable caravan as well as their downfalls to help you make that decision.
